Our Comenius Project
Men / Women

One hundred years ago, in 1911, the first International Women's Day was marked in Europe. More than one million women (and men) attended the rallies which took place in many countries. Not only did they demand the right to vote, but also women's rights to work and an end to discrimination in the job market was on their agenda.

During the last one hundred years, the situation of women in Europe has gradually improved, but equality between women and men is still far. The project – starting in 2011, 100 years after the first International Women's Day – focuses on the study, analysis and comparison of the actual situation of women in Germany and in Italy and how it has changed over the years. The fields of the role of women in the family and in employment will be the main focus in the project. Project reports and findings will be published through this website, and also displayed at "Comenius Project Corners" in the participating schools.
